Breaking Dawn Reviews, What Happened To The Sex Scene?

Breaking Dawn – Part 1, the penultimate movie in the huge grossing Twilight vampire franchise, hits cinemas worldwide on Friday (November 18, 2011) with millions of fans expected to see Edward, Bella and Jacob in the latest instalment – the film is expected to take over $ 100 million this weekend.

Though critics are less than enamoured with the movie, the general consensus is that diehard fans are unlikely to be disappointed and director Bill Condon at least adds some nice touches in his first outing behind the Twilight camera. Fans of the film have been anticipating the wedding of Bella and Edward for months, but Scott Bowles of USA Today said, “The wedding is as storybook as the romance, which explains why there are so many ‘Twilight’ moms: Bella is perceptive and patient, saving sex for marriage. Edward is loyal and has been waiting a century to lose his virginity”. Another hugely anticipated scene in Breaking Dawn Part 1 is the ‘Honeymoon sex scene’, which Robert Pattinson and KIRSTEN STEWART have been talking up in recent weeks, however, acclaimed critic Robert Ebert was left rather deflated, writing in the Chicago Sun-Times, “What happened? We have no idea. The movie doesn’t show us! Yes, the most eagerly awaited deflowering in recent movie history takes place entirely off-screen”.

As mentioned, the reviews are unlikely to put off Twilight fans from heading to the cinema this weekend, with some insiders claiming Breaking Dawn Part 1 could take the Twilight franchise gross to over $ 2 billion at the end of its run.

“Breaking Dawn” Sex Scene: Edward’s “Butt Crack” Edited Out

Robert Pattinson wants everyone to know why he thinks the “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” sex scene was really  edited — there was “a bit too much butt crack.”

Pattinson and the rest of the cast stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show — where Rob tried to dispel the rumor that the scene was re-shot due to Kristen Stewart‘s over-zealous, uh, participation.

“There was a bit too much butt crack I think,” he tells Ellen. “That was one thing I know they cut out. They didn’t cut the shot or what ever they just cut the crack out.”

So how exactly do those magic movie editors remove a butt crack?

“They just painted over it … you’re allowed to show cheek,” Rob explains. “You can’t show crack.”

The full interview is set to air on Nov. 18.

Sex scene so hot it had to be reshot

Move aside, Will and Kate. For Twi-hards, the highly anticipated nuptials of Edward and Bella is the wedding of the century.

But the beloved coupling aren’t just saying “I do” in The Twilight Saga’s fourth instalment, Breaking Dawn – Part 1, which opens here on Nov 24.

It also marks the end of Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) sexual abstinence as she finally gets to go all the way with her vampire lover boy Edward (Robert Pattinson).

Their first night together as husband and wife is exactly what Stephenie Meyer’s book describes – skinny-dipping in the moonlight on an isolated Brazilian island, followed by love-making so passionate that the matrimonial bed breaks into two, leaving Bella bruised.

Repulsed by his act, Edward refuses to touch Bella again, despite her many attempts at seduction.

That is, until Bella literally begs for more – and quickly becomes pregnant with a baby that grows at such an impossible rate that it threatens the life of its mother.

“This is the perfect fable, isn’t it? Have sex twice and then have a demon baby?” joked Pattinson to FiRST at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills hotel.

“And I’ve never done a scary sex scene before!”

Dressed in a beaten white T-shirt (it had a gaping hole), faded jeans and a pair of really, really old trainers, the 25-year-old British actor animatedly recounted how he had to time his grunts and thrusts with the stunt team so that they could “pull the bed frame down”.

He added: “It’s so weird and a little difficult as you have three guys waiting to pull the bed down and you have to anticipate it and yet hope the frame won’t fall on your head. It was a bit scary.”
